Indonesian Earthquake
OUR VILLAGE Relief Operations in affected areas

Indonesian Earthquake Slideshow with photos and information regarding the situation and efforts made.

Shortly after this earthquake claimed the lives of over 6000 people, volunteers arrived in the affected area and integrated with Posko Kemanusiaaan - “Jogja Bangkit” [Humanitarian Center - “Wake Up Jogja”] distribution center in Yogyakarta which was initiated by 14 local and international organizations. OUR VILLAGE primary focus was to join the relief operations and work on the distribution of emergency relief distribution to rural villages where government aid was unavailable or limited.
OUR VILLAGE also visited local hospitals
and gave gifts to all the children

Having a representative in the affected area allowed OUR VILLAGE to develop relief projects with local groups and volunteers which can continue for many months while the recovery process is still active.

OUR VILLAGE initially contributed towards the urgent requirements including basic requirements, food and shelter, and other necessities. Once the situation stabilized, efforts were made to assist the children affect in the local villages.

local volunteer teachers

OUR VILLAGE then supported the development of Child Day Camps and Trauma Relief
Centers in rural villages. These centers will be run by volunteers with the assistance from the volunteer Psychologist and Psychology Students from Indonesian Universities. The main focus of these centers is to assist in the mental recovery for the children by conducting psychological surveys and developing relief programs specific to the needs of each individual.

Local psychologists volunteered to help
children address their individual needs

Many children have suffered severe trauma
and are in need of psychological help

The MAF is helping to provide resources
for these children but donations are needed
An average of 40 children in each of the villages
will attend the day camps and volunteers will
help to continue their educational exercises
A small donation can help get these
children all the help they need
