One Month Internship/Volunteer Experience
in Ecuador, South America

Our Village was founded in an effort to put together a cost effective, student budgeted volunteer and internship opportunities. This is your chance to go overseas, volunteer in a developing country, learn a new language and live with a local family! The World is Our Village Internship will take place from July 2nd to July 31st, 2009 and is open to EVERYONE!
Teachers, Early Childhood Education (ECE) students, or Faculty of Education Students. (B.Ed, M.Ed, PHD) can request to be placed in a teaching environment to use as an internship.
This new experience allows for a new, authentic and rich experience for both the volunteers and the participants. This year, Our Village is offering 15 internship/volunteer positions. The cost is already lower than most other similar opportunities from other organizations as as a result, each participant should be able to fund raise the entire amount.
The Volunteer Experience dates were selected in an effort to have our Muslim Participants able to travel at the end of the volunteer trip and be home before the start of the Month of Ramadan. All our placements are carefully selected and all female volunteers will be placed in families and communities that are well known for their safety. Specific requirements, such as dietary restrictions, prayer space, and others requests will be provided for each individual.

Placements include:
- Nursery, Primary, Elementary and Secondary Schools where volunteers will teach English among other things.
- Special-Needs Education Centers where volunteers with some experience working with special-needs children will assist the local staff on a daily bases.
- Orphanages run by local NGO's where impoverished children are housed and schooled. Volunteers will have the opportunity to initiate a number of morning, afternoon, and/or evening programs for the children whose ages range from 3—18 years.
- Health Care/Elderly Care placements in homes
- Community Development work that could included eco-tourist development among other things.

Requirements
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- Must carry a valid Canadian, American, UK/EU passport valid for 6 month
from time of departure - Must be able to commit for entire program (July 2nd - July 31st, 2009)
- Must submit a completed sign-up form
Program Fees
All participants are responsible to fund raise there fees. A fundraising guide will be provided to assist each participant. Fundraising is much easier than most people think and the program fees are designed specifically with "student budgets" in mind! Donations can be collected towards your program fees and Canadian tax receipts can be provided through our friends and partners.
Program Fees Include:
- Pre-orientation session in Toronto, Ontario hosted by past volunteers and team leaders
- Fundraising package to help with fundraising
- Pre-travel orientation volunteer package
- In-country support team
- Airport pick up
- Accommodation with host family
- Three meals a day
- Local transportation to/from placement
- The Our Village Gold Star Award for contribution towards humanity
- Reference letter
Plus Volunteers will have the opportunity on weekends or after the placement is over to engage in a number of special vacation/tourist attractions such as: (Not included in program fees)
- Visiting the Coastal/Beach Region of Ecuador
- Visiting the Galapagos Islands
- Going to the Natural Rainforest and jungles of Ecuador
- Visiting the natural hot-water “baths”
Fees:
- ONLY $1600 for Internship program
Payment Schedule:
- $500 dollars (non-refundable) after sign-up forms have been accepted
- Balance to be paid 6 weeks before the start of the placement
- Full payment is required to confirm your participation
Refund Policy: - 100% refund if application is withdrawn in writing 6 weeks before the Program
- 25% is refunded after that if application is withdrawn in writing
